Morgan Returns

I am not sure why I have failed so miserably at blogging. I suppose its because I am so busy reading and writing all the time, that the last thing I want to do is write some more. In any event, that's all I have to say about my lame attempts at blogging and I will try better in the future.

That being said, I am really looking forward to the Twins season this year. I have been a Twins fan my whole life. I have faint memories of the 1991 World Series year and I have followed them closely ever since. Even during the depressing-era of 1996-2000 when the team was awful, I stuck with them. Once Kirby left the game, Chuck Knoblauch (#11), was my favorite Twins player growing up. Since moving to the Twin Cities in 2003, I've probably attended over 100 Twins games and I've loved every minute of it. Baseball is the one sport I really get into and get super happy or super depressed depending on the outcome of the game. I usually get over it quickly, unlike the typical football fans, but I find baseball to be a lot of fun to follow. It probably has something to do with the fact that I played baseball growing up and coached Little League for several years. Basically its a game that I understand well, which I think makes it more enjoyable to watch for me. So, after putting up with watching baseball in the drab, depressing Metrodome (which is a football stadium, not a baseball stadium), I cannot wait to watch baseball outdoors at Target Field. I mean, I remember playing baseball in the rain and sleet in March and April, I think sitting outside to watch a game isn't a huge deal. Nicole and I recently went to an open house at Target Field, and that place is going to be a lot of fun. We can't wait! Nicole and I really enjoy going to games together, and I'm really happy I got Nicole into baseball many years ago because its something fun we can do together. Seriously, Nicole gets into the games more than I do sometimes...usually in some angry way, by yelling at Delmon Young, or ripping Liranao for giving up "another fatty ball." She was very unforgiving about Boof Bonser's gut after giving up three home runs in on one inning. All in good fun. I took Nicole to her first professional sporting event, a Cubs game in the fall of 2004. Wrigley Field was a lot of fun and we even saw Sammy Sosa's last home run as a Cub. I think what really won Nicole over to baseball was Joe Mauer, but I'm not sure why...
