Clean Food Challenge: Day 1

I'm not going to lie to you. This challenge really is going to be a challenge for me. And even on day 1 its proving that. I'm actually kinda of having a bummer day. I don't feel great. Henry skipped his morning nap. And  on top of all that, my Mom called to say our family dog, Minnie, isn't doing well, and probably will have to be put down today.

My natural reaction is to turn to comfort food. Particularly sweets, and just call it a day. And, I'll say I cheated on the challenge after I got my Mom's phone call. I had 3 cookies. I don't even need to look at the label to know that they are made of stuff other than real food. But I'm going to move forward with the challenge, and try to be better tomorrow!

So instead of listing everything I ate today (or any of the other challenge days), I'm just going to pick one meal and go into detail. I'll explain what I ate, and leave a recipe if it was good enough. Sound good? If you want a list, let me know, I can do it that way too.

Today's Meal: Breakfast!

Breakfast is easy for me. I eat the same exact thing almost every single day. I'm boring like that. Usually I have two pieces of wheat toast with peanut butter and jelly. I eat them open faced - just to be fancy.

This morning I only altered my meal a little bit. The bread and peanut butter where fine, but the jelly wasn't. So I replaced the jelly with honey, and called it a morning. It was super delicious, quick, easy, and keeps me full.

My guess is I will eat this same combination for the rest of the challenge. So don't expect breakfast to be featured again. It was so delicious though, that I might just have to put it in my regular breakfast rotation.

I stumbled today as well. I ordered Chicken Lo Mein at a restaurant before I even realized what I was doing. Ah well, that's why it's a challenge. We can make different choices the next time we put something in our mouths. We can do this!

Exactly, my goal is to just think about what I'm eating, instead of mindlessly filling up. If I can do that I will consider this challenge a success.

You are making me hungry, now I want bread with PB & Honey! Also, I think it's great that we are just being a little more conscious of what we are putting in our bodies. I read a quote someone put on FB today saying that a stumble is when you have a little miss, a fail is when you decide your health isn't important enough to you to care, loved that quote!
