Freshpet Ready to Bake Cookies Review and Giveaway!

As many of you know, I'm smack dab in the middle of a Clean Food Challenge where I'm trying not to eat any food that contains artificial ingredients. And, why shouldn't Nettie and Lexi also participate?! So, when Freshpet approached me to write a review of their Ready to Bake dog treats, I knew the timing could not be more perfect.

For those of you unfamiliar with Freshpet, they are a company striving to create a healthy, and fresh, alternative to traditional pet food. None of their food is processed, or contains any preservatives or artificial ingredients. It's simply well balanced, natural, and ready-to-serve food.

Lately, the dogs have really been kind of ignored in the treats department. Henry thinks its awesome to feed them through the living room gate, so they have pretty much just been getting little puffs here and there. And a lot of the time, Hen will tease the poor things and ends up eating the "treat" himself.

So, I was very excited to try out these Freshpet Ready to Bake cookies. And, honestly I am super impressed with the quality. I don't think I will ever go back to our old treats. The Freshpet Ready to Bake cookies were shipped to me in an awesome (and super handy) cooler since all of their food needs to stay refrigerated (remember no preservatives!).

Inside the cooler were two boxes of the Ready to Bake cookies. I chose to make the Peanut Butter Oatmeal treats first. I chose these (over Oatmeal and Cranberry - I cannot wait to try these either) because I have made peanut butter oatmeal treats myself from scratch for the dogs before, and I wanted to see how they compare.

There is no comparison. These Ready to Bake cookies were so easy to make. It required literally no work for me. All you have to do is open the package and bake. I love that for dog treats, since they often require ingredients that I don't regularly keep around. So, not only are they easy, all you have to buy is this one package. And speaking of ingredients, look at this list, so CLEAN!! I was also so happy to see they are made in America; we have all heard the horror stories about dog's being poisoned by food made abroad.

Not only were easy to make, but these cookies smelled amazing! Lexi was in love with the smell too; look who wandered into the kitchen just as they were coming out of the oven:

Seriously, I would have eaten them had the box said they were for dogs. Yum. And, while I didn't taste them, I'll take Nettie and Lexi's reactions as proof enough that they were delicious. Both dogs have been ridiculously happy to get a treat all week. And I've been getting the biggest puppy dog eyes from them asking for more!

Bottom line, these are great treats, and I can't say a single bad thing about them. The dogs were happy, and I was happy. Total win-win.

And, the best news is Freshpet is giving away 2 boxes of Ready to Bake cookies to 1 lucky Kavanaugh Report reader! Just follow the Rafflecopter directions and leave a comment below! One lucky winner will be announced March 13, 2012.

If I can keep them away form my husband so my dog can get to try them, it'd be awesome.
