A Tiny Bit of Tot School

{Make sure to check out our Melissa and Doug Giveaway! Win a free toy!}

Henry is almost 20 months old.

We were kinda back to tot school this week. Kinda. With our classroom mostly unpacked I was able set up our tot trays for the week but nothing else. Since things weren't organized, Henry also dug through the bins and had plenty of fun. I could tell he was so relieved and happy to see his tot school stuff out at the new house.

We didn't really focus on a shape at all this week. Our theme was Halloween and we worked on some extra activities we had from October that we hadn't gotten to.

Our first tray was a set of Halloween stampers. Then, I made a sheet of boxes with a different shape at the top of each row. Henry then had to find the matching stamp and get it into the box. It was good matching and fine motor work. Henry proved that he could match the stamps, but he didn't really have the control to get the stamp into the box. He just thought it was great to stamp his hand -- and everything else in the room.

The second tray was two orange bowls filled with pumpkin shaped erasers and orange pom-poms, a scoop, and an ice cube tray. Henry could either transfer the bowls' contents from one to another with the scoop, or place the little pumpkins in the ice cube tray -- which he really liked. Henry has recently started to love cleaning up, so he really loved to dump these everywhere and just put them back into the bowl.

The final tray was an Elmo shape sorter. Henry is obsessed with all things Elmo so I knew he would love this puzzle. But I've also been dreading because I figured he would only want to play with this tray. However, I was happily surprised and he was still interested in the other shapes. This puzzle was actually hard for Henry. He could match and put the shapes in without an issue, but Elmo talks and asks for specific shapes at specific times. Henry didn't want to {or couldn't} follow the directions, so he didn't always get praise from Elmo.

That stamping activity looks so fun - and I do like any excuse to buy new stationery haha!! And shape sorters are always fun. My daugher has her Tupperware one that she will sit and do a few times in a row :-) xx
