Normally on Tuesdays, I link up with Toddle Along Tuesday over on Growing up Geeky, but for the time being TAT is on a break, so I'm going to take this break as a way to share some details about our new house.
For those of you that follow me on Pinterest or Instagram, you may recognize some of this! First room -- our Master Bedroom.
Before:
Where We're At: The actual color we ended up going with is a little darker than our inspiration but I still really liked how it turned out. In addition to the paint, we bought some new bedroom furniture and curtains. Our bedding we bought about a year ago from Ikea, and was the reason we wanted to stick with grays.
I'm not a huge fan of the way the furniture is arranged at the moment. But, its sort of a compromise between Morgan and I since he really wants the TV across from the bed.
What We Need: Our master is the most "done" room in our house. The painting was done on the first day we moved in {thanks Dad!!} so there was really no work we had to do. But we need a few things still:
1. The big one -- art. The room is basically a shell at this point. We have finally decided we want to use graphite and white antique lithographs, like this one:
but hang them like this (from here):
2. Deal with the curtains. I hate where they are currently hung, we just threw them up where the current hardware was. But if I move them up, they need to be taken up to the window length right? Cause they just hit the floor now. Ugh, someone tell me what to do with these.
3. The lighting. The lamps leave A LOT to be desired and the overhead light is no better. I just haven't found the right replacement lamps yet.
Favorite Part: This is hard. A toss up really between the view, and our new outlets.
The view was an unexpected surprise. The night we moved in, we learned we had a super peak-a-boo view of downtown Saint Paul from our window. Its pretty amazing to have a skyline view!
The new outlets, well they were a splurge that just makes life awesome -- built in USB outlets. We are a family of USB run Apple products and other gadgets. To be able to just plug those directly into the wall, well, that's just fantastic.
