This week we were back to the letter Q at Tot School. We used the same letter q tot school trays from last week. Unfortunately, Henry came down with hand, foot, and mouth again (for those of you counting that's the third time!) so this week was we didn't do tot school a ton.
Over the past two weeks, we have had a lot of fun with our additional letter q activities. Our extra letter Q tot school trays included:
Letter Q Sensory Bin: For some reason Henry really loved the little blue Q and called it "that funny little Q." So the basket got more use than I expected, despite being smaller than some of the other bins. Letter Q objects are hard!
Q-Tip Transfer: I used a little bucket and paper punched holes into the top. Then, I provided Henry some q-tips to put into the holes. This was one of Henry's favorite activities during the letter q weeks. It was an easy fine motor game he played over and over.
Q guling: Here I provided Henry with a sheet that I had drawn the letter Q on, some glue, and some fabric scraps. Here, Henry could glue the fabric to the Q to make a quilted(ish) Q. Henry normally doesn't get very excited for crafts, but this he loved. He did the letter Q so quickly that we also had to do a letter q.
Dot Q: Despite the long break from the dot sheets, Henry still didn't show much interest in this. But he did attempt it.
Q-Tip Tracing: Again, we used our Virtual Montessori pre-writing chalkboards to trace the lines using water!
