It's been a long week here, Gus has been super sick with some sort of bad cold/flu-ish symptoms. With a high fever, we have been at home, snuggling our days away and pretty much not doing anything else. These kinds of weeks are always so hard, not only because it's awful to see your baby sick, but also those little bodies want to just keep moving even when they know they are super sick. They can go through periods where they just don't feel good, but they just have to do something. This can be especially challenging, if you don't let your toddlers use screens.

So, I thought I would share a few ideas on how I entertain my sick toddler who is stuck and home and needs some rest. I'm sure there are more that could be added to this list!
- Books, books, and more books. We spend tons of time cuddled together reading.
- Peek-a-boo with play silks
- Warm baths with lots of cups for pouring
- Cuddling, lots of cuddling.
- Babywearing - because life still has to happen when you have more than one child
- Letting sleep happen where it happens {like in this picture, Gus fell asleep getting ready to go pick Nora up from school}
- A small amount of playdough {Gus isn't ready for this one yet}sometimes with a drop of child-safe essential oil
- Coloring with paper and some rock crayons
- Peeling clementines, eggs, or other "hard to prepare" fruits together
- Singing songs and using finger plays
- Drinking from different types of cups {water bottle, cup with straw, a mug} basically anything that will spark an interest in staying hydrated
Hopefully some of these ideas will work for you if you have a sick toddler. As for Gus, I think he is finally on the mend, and I'm hoping for a much healthier week ahead.
What do you do with your baby when he/she is sick?
