Montessori Friendly Books for Back to School
Tagged in:
Montessori Friendly Books,
I know we start later in the year than a lot of families around the United States but my kids finally go back to their respective Montessori schools next week. It's going to be a really interesting and exciting year, I think! But, as we prepare for the new year ahead I've taken out our collection of Montessori friendly back to school books.
Books are just such a great way to process change and set the tone for how the year will go. While I don't have any children starting their first year in a new environment, they each still have excited and nervous feelings about returning to school. Especially this year, 2022, after a couple of years of less stable in-person school.
Back to School Books for Preschool and Elementary Kids
Here are the books on our shelves for this back to school season:
- All Are Welcome: lovely reminder that everyone is valued and important member of the school community
- We are Family: a reminder that family is super important and
- Little People, Big Dreams: Maria Montessori : an bibliography of Maria Montessori
- Our Peaceful Classroom: a nice reminder of peaceful Montessori class expectations
- Kiri in the Classroom : a first day of school story featuring a Montessori environment, but not super super Montessori
- Jack Goes to Montessori School : a first day of school, but super Montessori
- Our Favorite Day of the Year : starts on the first day and celebrates cultural holidays that people may celebrate
- The Name Jar: A starting school experience
- Wheels at Work: City: this was included for Teddy as school buses return to our streets
- This is My Home, This is My School: also included for Teddy who will be starting homeschool this year
- Going to School: a first day of school story but not a Montessori environment
Right now, the favorites in our home have been Our Favorite Day of the Year and The Name Jar. I look forward to a new school year and all the fun, learning, and discovery in the year ahead.
Do you have any other back-to-school books, Montessori or not, that you would add to this list?
