Babies

From the moment a baby is born they start to work on becoming the amazing, unique individual they were meant to become. As Montessori parents, we know that we can support each child's unique developmental path from birth through out own interactions and our environments.

"The greatness of the human personality begins at the hour of birth. " Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind

Toddlers

Toddlers are amazing little creatures. They explore their world in the most unique ways. Their language is exploding, they are pushing their physical skills to the limits, and they are passionate about their individual interests.

"It follows that at the beginning of his life the individual can accomplish wonders – without effort and quite unconsciously." Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind

Here is a collection of articles, resources, DIYs, and more to help you to understand Montessori toddlers. Since there is such a huge difference between a new 1-year-old and an almost 3-year-old, I have broken posts down into younger toddlers (12-24 months) and older toddlers (24-36 months).

Preschool

At 3-years-old, Maria Montessori discovered that a whole new world opens up for children. Their brains still learn through movement and their senses but it's done through conscious activity in their environment. They become even more curious and specifically seek opportunities to learn and grow.

"The little child’s first movements were instinctive. Now, he acts consciously and voluntarily, and with this comes an awakening of his spirit…." Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind

Here is a collection of articles, resources, DIYs, and more to help you understand and thrive in this new period of growth and development.

Elementary

At age 6, the child is reborn as they enter the second plane of development. This is a time of slow and steady physical growth, of health and stability. But, it comes with some big changes in your child, in their needs, and in how their brains work.

"Our aim is not merely to make the child understand, and still less to force him to memorize, but so to touch his imagination as to enthuse him to his innermost core." Maria Montessori, To Educate the Human Potential

Here is a collection of articles, resources, DIYs, and more to support you through the Montessori elementary years.
